I've been singin these cover tunes while either front-manning my group at the edge of dive bar stages,or restaurant lounges and benefits showcases for good causes. In either case, it was one of my kids who saw the need to push me to do a vocal a capella medley for the Cover Band 2010 video contest.

Mr. Budd - You know what bummed me out most about this today? Was that you let "them get in your head" you let that Olga or whatever the name is get to you... You and Mike are my favorites. You both know your stuff and you've been around a little longer and had some experiences that Mike hasnt. He had a good run back in the 80's and early 90's. And like you said, once you get this age, things just kinda go down from here. "back in the day" you were on top - now your in the same spot as Mike - just playing local gigs and enjoying doing what you do. When you chose to "speak out" today to the "haters" I truly was disappointed. You are above that - Like I told you earlier, this has just become a joke. I said it at the beginning that all this was becomming was a "popularity contest" and not so much on talent. I have watched all these comments and people just being so disrespectful to one another over what? over this? That's why I wanted to say something to you. I really would love to see you win - I feel bad because you would have a hard time working with all the others who arent up to your level. Dont take all this B.S. to heart. Young people haten ~ Kill them with kindness - smile and keep on going. It will be what it will be. Just remember everybody has the opportunity to shoot for the moon - only a few will be lucky to land in the stars! I have seen more than you think in the rock-n-roll business. I have a pretty good concept on what goes on. Just dont let these people make you feel like you have to get on here and prove yourself to them.. Why? who are they? are they the judges? do they pay your income? Just accept this for what it is - 15 minutes of fame that isnt going to land you on the moon! It will give you a memory to add to the rest ..... and dont stoop to others levels and feel you have to get on here and use such vulgar comments - I can tell you are a good talented man - one hell of a drummer! keep on doing what you do whereever you can do it. It's in your blood - you and Mike will probably be doing this at 80. Good luck to you and ignore the B.S. Let them wonder - let them make whatever comments they need too.. Just comment back with a SMILE and keep on going! Sheila

Dear Sheila, you did ask about the information regarding the events and shows with guys like Miles etc. Not finding much on www.tommybudd.com. I told you about plaxo.com but Go also to http://www.myspace.com/tommybudd (not just "tommy")for more pics and captions. I will one day end up downloading the videos of shows with others,but as of yet that music has not been completely edited for the unpublished original content which needs copywriting first. Oh well... AND, Thanks for your support ,in helping to bring back my sanity.hahaha

Great arrangement, two songs about two music capitals in a medley!- a lot of energy and joy in the short time allowed,obviously paid your dues above all as a frontman. A true performer. No one but you should be the vocal winner/lead singer in 2010 NAMM! You have my vote

Good job !!!! I already voted for a guy that I use to rock out in the 80's with locally in Indiana - He is also a local known rocker. But I wanted to tell you that you did a great job and I'm sure you will be there in the top 5! Keep rockin it hard man!!!

Holly crap, people! do you know who this guy is??? I just finished surfing the internet looking to see if there was anything more about this guy- Tommy Budd is everywhere, Facebook,LinkedIn,Plaxo, My Space, and his own websites- music and pictures!!www.tommybudd.com! He is a local legend in southern California from Chicago's southside blues who's been around a LONG time -played with very heavy musicians AND he's a singing drummer!WOW!! Tommy, pulling the wool over (my/our ) eyes? I don't get it. Why in a contest for a NAMM? Your groups and your history are awesome/one of a kind. I'm speechless!

Where did it go??? Mr. Budd - why did you remove your long lengthy comment? The one about how kids want to grow up to be like you... Where couples go home and make love after hearing you perform. You know, the comment talking about Oral? Did you re-read it and think maybe just maybe it was a little rude? I had a better appreciation for you prior to your ego taking over.... You should of left it up there for the judges to see just how great you are....If you do win - I pitty you as you will have to perform with others who are not at your level.. You will go nuts! It is such a shame that this contest came down to this. I hope that I am not repeating this twice as I typed this before and thought it posted but I guess not. For adults, I am shocked at how disrespectful you guys are. Talking about Oral and BJ's and just being plain rude. People entered this contest for the "experience" some are Good, some are O.K. and others... well maybe a little "green" nonetheless, this contest was OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. It didnt say you had to be a certain color, certain weight, certain height, or must have played with major acts in the past. Bigbossman, (whoever you may be) you shared your opinions and maybe along the way bruised some ego's. Just like some PRAISED their favorite and expressed how they ARE THE BEST - you did the same - but.... It was done a little more "blunt" then some may have wanted to hear. Mr. Budd - I find your comment above (WHICH YOU HAVE NOW REMOVED) to be very, very interesting. You play and pack them in and the major places. When I went to your tommybudd.com page I looked at your schedule of events - it seems that you just play 2 places American Legion Post and the Manhattan bar and maybe a "private event" here and there. I'm not sure how big your American Legion Post is - but here, "it doesnt take much to pack em'in". For an experienced musician like yourself - you dont seem to be playing anywhere any better than some of the others. You have played with such great musicians why are you just playing American Legions and Manhattan bar? I expected to see some major GIGS.. I was a little shocked that "some big named band" hadn't scooped you up... On your page is talks about the Buddy Miles Express that you were a part of.. I cannot find anything anywhere about that except on Your tommybudd.com page. I googled it and really thought I would find a bunch of info on it - I did not. I'm sure YOU ARE THE MAN and you should win this hands down. You have paid your dues and deserve it. Your daughter did this as a "gag" did she also enter you into the drummers section as a "gag". Personally I thought you were a hell of a drummer. Long story short - it is a contest - may the best person win. They shouldnt have allowed comments because some people abused it and made this into a JOKE. This was a fun thing to check on at the beginning but it quickly went south. Didnt your mammas ever teach you if you "didnt have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all?" Mr. Budd if this contest is so "beneath you" why didnt you pull your vid? You let your FANS see such an awful performance - My god if all your fans where on here checking this out - you should of had more votes than the Doc. Rest assured - your fans probably didnt see this and what you did - you did well but others did decent too.

Madam olga,vulgar olga, you are highly mistaken and lost in your fantasy world. What you want and are desperate to find does not exist.You are suffering from treatable dementia but you must seek help to get a cure. Stay away from illicid drugs, they cuase these delusions of grandeur.May I suggest you use the theory of Sigmond Freud to help you with you're delusions. There is no reason for Tommy Budd to comment on himself, he has his fans and admirers to do that for him,you silly little dreamer. I am glad to have looked into who he was to come to this conclusion and to have commented on his good works. I am happy to see him win, unlike you.I know truth hurts so I will send flowers to you in care of the sanitarium you are treated with deepest sympathies to get well soon.
